Phikeia. The first step.
Once the decision has been made to say “Yes!,” to Phi Delta Theta, the new member enters a trial period that allows an opportunity for him to truly get to know the Fraternity and for the Fraternity to truly get to know him. The Phikeia stage is a period of education, filled with positive and encouraging preparation for the responsibilities of membership that reaffirms the principles of Phi Delta Theta. After the Phikiea Education program, if both party’s values and expectations are in sync, Phikeias become initiated into full membership – and that’s where the real journey of a lifetime begins.
Hazing….. Not Tolerated
Phi Delta Theta does not condone any form of hazing. It is contrary to the purpose of fraternity, let alone Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. Members can still achieve a close group of men throughout the organization without hazing and Phi Delta Theta General Headquarters offers resources to help transplant negative activities with positive ones.
Phi Delta Theta encourages family members to discuss hazing and other new member practices. Family members have the unique opportunity to speak one-on-one about the dangers of hazing.
Our Phikeia Education
College is where the man you are meets the man you will be. It is a time for an individual to build the skills and knowledge they will need to be successful in the coming years of their life. But it is also a time to build lasting relationships, and to establish the connections used throughout life. It is the time where you will make you life long friends and potentially even meet your spouse. We pride in how our Phikeia Education program builds those skills needed for future careers and establishes connections that will last a life time. Our education program is one of the most structured, purposeful and fun programs on Colorado State University’s campus. Our program teaches our Phikeia how to truly become the greatest version of themselves and teaches them important life skills such as time management, organization and brotherhood. Our program also strives in teaching our Phikeia the great history of our Fraternity but as well in the individual history of our chapter. It is a time where they bond with their Phikeia brothers and as well with the active chapter. As a class, the Phikeia put on a variety of events throughout the semester such as a philanthropy event, a community service event, a brotherhood event with the active chapter, a social event with another Greek organization and lastly an educational event for the entire chapter. It is a truly rewarding experience, with every part of the experience working towards the bigger picture of becoming a member of Phi Delta Theta.
